Convenient for new meals

I ordered the 4-recipe flavour pot box recently. The goan fish curry kit was surprisingly good, and the instructions were clear. It was nice to try something new without buying a bunch of spices. Delivery was prompt, maybe 3 days to my door. My only minor complaint is that the recipe cards are a bit small, so I had to zoom in on my phone to read them comfortably while cooking. But it's a good way to expand your meal rotation.

Great value for the price

I tried SimplyCook because of the 1 pound trial box offer. It felt like a really good deal to get four recipe kits for that price. I picked the Chicken Katsu Curry kit first. For what I paid, it was definitely worth trying out. It helped me save money compared to eating out, and the portions were decent. A solid choice if you're looking for value.

Good recipe kit

I got the 4-recipe trial box. The beef stroganoff kit was easy to make. Flavors were good. Delivery was quick enough. I'd use them again for sure.

Decent meal kits, mostly good

I ordered a 4-recipe box and chose the Thai Red Curry, Middle Eastern Lamb Kofta, Penne alla Rustica, and Korean Bibimbap kits. The ordering process was straightforward online. Delivery took about 4 days to arrive. The box fit through my letterbox, which was handy. The flavour pots for the Thai Red Curry were quite authentic, and the recipe was clear. For the lamb kofta, the instructions were easy to follow. I appreciated that they tell you what fresh ingredients you need to buy beforehand. The only small thing was the Bibimbap sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's personal preference. Overall, the quality of the flavour bases is high, and it makes cooking new things much less daunting.

I saw an offer for a really cheap trial box, like a pound or something. is that usually just for new customers?

Z Zach R. 1 week ago
Yep, those super cheap trial boxes are pretty much always for new sign-ups. I got my first one for free with a referral code a while back.

Almost certainly. They want you to try it out. If you're an existing customer, sometimes they'll send you a discount to reactivate your subscription if you've paused it, but not usually that low.

hey, trying to figure out if this is worth it. does SimplyCook send you all the fresh stuff like meat and veggies, or just the sauces?

A Amanda Mitchell 1 week ago
Nah, it's just the flavour pots and the recipes. You gotta buy your own meat and veg from the supermarket. It's more of a recipe helper than a full meal kit.

Yeah, they send the little pots of flavour and the instructions. I actually like it because I can pick my own fresh stuff and control the quality, plus it usually means less food waste for me.

thinking of trying this out, but worried about it just sitting on my doorstep if i'm not home. do the boxes fit through a standard letterbox?

A Ashley Parker 1 week ago
Yup, they're designed to be letterbox-friendly. Mine always just pops right in.

Can confirm, they're slim. Never had an issue with them being left outside, which is super convenient if you work during the day.

how does this compare to something like HelloFresh? is it similar?

L Luke L. 3 weeks ago
It's pretty different actually. HelloFresh sends you ALL the ingredients. SimplyCook just sends the flavour pots and recipe cards, you buy the fresh stuff yourself. So it's more about the flavour combos than a full box.

Not really similar at all. SimplyCook is more for giving you ideas and the hard-to-find spices/sauces. HelloFresh is a full meal kit. If you already have a well-stocked fridge/pantry, SimplyCook is cheaper cause you just add a few fresh items. If you want everything delivered, HelloFresh is better, but more expensive usually.
